One of the best parts about running a small shop is that many of our products start with a simple conversation with a customer.
A perfect example of this is how our camera planter housings came to life.
Sometimes the best product ideas don’t start in a design program… they start with a customer asking a question.
It Started with a Birdhouse Camera Housing

One of our customers had previously purchased one of our birdhouse-style camera housings.
These housings are designed to give security cameras a decorative look while still allowing the camera to function properly.
After receiving the birdhouse housing, the customer reached out with a new idea.
They asked a simple question:
"Do you make anything like this for inside the house?"
The Idea: A Planter Camera Housing
The customer was looking for something that would blend into indoor décor a little more naturally.
Instead of a birdhouse, they suggested something that looked like a plant pot or planter.
That idea immediately made sense.
A planter is something that naturally sits on shelves, desks, counters, or window sills. It blends into a room easily and doesn’t stand out.
So the design process started.

Turning an Idea into a Real Product
Designing a product like this involves a lot more than just making a pot.
The camera still needs to:
• Have a clear view• Allow motion sensors to work correctly• Provide space for cables• Fit the exact camera dimensions• Maintain good airflow
Every camera model is slightly different, so measurements have to be very precise.
Several prototype prints later, the first camera planter housing was created.
Testing and Refining the Design
Like most things in the shop, the first print is rarely the final version.
We tested:
• Camera angles• Sensor visibility• Cable routing• Print strength• Overall appearance
Each test helps improve the design until it works exactly the way it should.
Now One of Our Most Popular Products
What started as a simple customer request has turned into one of our most popular designs.
Today we offer multiple styles including:
• Camera planters• Decorative camera housings• Birdhouse camera housings• Custom camera mounts
And many of these designs started the same way — with a customer asking if something was possible.
We Love Custom Ideas
Some of our best products exist because someone simply asked:
"Can you make this?"
Sometimes the answer is yes right away.
Sometimes it takes a few prototypes.
But that’s part of what makes running a creative shop so fun.
